Driven by the development of advanced methods for preparation and characterization of liposomes, and the application of these molecules in therapeutics and diagnostics, the demand for liposomes is expected to rise in the coming years. Despite the growing interest in liposome-based therapeutics and diagnostics, the development and manufacturing of liposomes is associated with several challenges, including complex manufacturing processes, huge capital investments, inadequate clinical grade production and GMP compliant industrial scale-up, lack of facilities with necessary infrastructure, as well as concerns related to storage and stability.
