Goshala in Karnataka

A cow is not only an animal that gives us milk but it is also worshipped and given the status of a mother and is referred to as Gou Maata in Vedic tradition.
Every product of the cow – the Go-Mutra (cow’s urine), cow dung, cow’s milk, and so on – has religious and therapeutic importance. Cow dung and cow urine were traditionally used for purification before sacred ceremonies, like bathing a deity for Abhishek. However, since dairy activities and products have become more commercialized, cows are now seen as milk vending machines. Because of this thinking, the cow’s grandeur is fading. Additionally, Indian cow and bull breeds are being overlooked.
